Our Mission

Guiding Children Towards Success

Childhood and the following transition towards independence and adulthood are the essential foundations to becoming a well-balanced adult. Children who have experienced adverse trauma at an early age are at significant disadvantage when it comes to making healthy lifelong choices and decisions.

We provide a tailored and high-quality residential care environment that enables children with complex needs to feel loved and supported and develop to their full potential within a caring environment. We guide them toward independence and give them full support in all aspects of their daily lives.

Our management of the children’s home is underpinned by the requirements of the Children Act 1989, Children Act 2004, the Care Standards Act 2000 and related legislation including the Children’s Home Regulations and Quality Standards 2015. These are the key principles of residential care providing a framework for our service delivery. We provide high-quality care which places the following values at the centre of service provision.

  • All children have opportunity to experience a loving, happy, healthy environment in which they are safe and free from harm and able to develop, thrive and fulfil their potential.

  • We have developed a culture which values and nurtures each child as an individual with talents, strengths and capabilities that can develop over time.

  • We foster positive relationships, encouraging strong bonds between children and staff in the home, on the basis of jointly undertaken activities, shared daily life, domestic and non-domestic routines and established boundaries of acceptable behaviour.

  • Our team practice care and support which is creative, ambitious, nurturing children’s school learning and out-of-school learning and their dreams and aspirations for the future.

  • We are attentive to children’s needs, supporting emotional, mental and physical health, including repairing earlier damage to self-esteem and encouraging friendships.

  • Our approach is outward facing, working with the wider system of professionals for each child, and with children’s families and communities of origin to sustain links and understand past problems.

  • Leaders and managers have high expectations of staff as committed members of a team, as decision makers and as activity leaders. In support of this, we ensure all staff and managers are engaged in on-going learning and personal development in their roles and the children and families they work with.

  • Our premises are high-quality to ensure we provide a safe, homely and stimulating environment, with spaces that support, nurture and allow privacy as well as common spaces and spaces to be active.

Underlying these principles is the involvement and participation of children in all aspects of the day-to-day running of the home including a say in how their rooms are decorated. Our vision is to ensure all children living with us have the same opportunities as their peers including a right to a safe and secure family life which promotes their rights to safety and inclusion.
